In the beginning...
At the impressionable age of thirteen, I remember listening to my mother and sister talk about their interest in psychology. They mentioned that being a therapist sounded interesting, and without a pause I asked, “Why would you want to listen to other people’s problems?” They both laughed and pointed out that I already did that regularly for my family and friends.
As the years passed, I noticed that when friends and family shared their challenges with me, I really enjoyed being able to help them! Sometimes in the form of advice or insight; at other times, a kind word or even a dose of truth, and that’s what therapy is all about. From then on, I knew that I wanted to create a career focused on helping others and I directed my career path to fulfill that dream. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree of Arts in Counseling, and am now a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
I have experience working with adolescents and adults with a myriad of mental health concerns, addiction use disorder, and even those who just want to improve their life! This range of exposure has taught me a lot about what motivates people, what hinders them, and how I can help them to achieve their goals.
My therapeutic style is warm, affirming, and direct. I predominantly utilize aspects of Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Client Centered Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Life & Lemons Licensed Therapy was created in 2017 to be an extension of my ability to serve the community. I wanted to provide an in-home service for those who are struggling with challenges in their life, but who may not be able to attend in-office sessions. Helping clients is my passion and I would love to help you achieve your goals.
That is what brought me here, those were my lemons. What are yours?
